Bolivia 1799 PTS P. 4 Reale Silver Colonial Period Coin, King Carolus IIII Silver Potosi Mint. 4 Reale with full letter detail, scarce in any condition with unknown mintage’s. M ostly found in very bad conditions, this example is NGC graded XF-40 making this is a real desirable coin. Excellent fine example of the type but seems more like AU!! Specification: 13.54 g. Carolus IIII (or IV) reigned from 1788 to 1808. The backs of these coins look the same, with a crowned shield and two large pillars on either side. Like the milled pillar dollar, bust reales circulated throughout the new worlds, even serving as legal currency in the United States until 1857. These colonial period coins circulated freely in the many New World colonies of Spain and many were lost in shipwrecks. Thank you for looking. Check out my other items.
